The famous Dighapatia Rajbari of Natore is now known as Uttara Gonovobon. Rani Bhavani of Natore gifted Dighapatia pargana to her Naib Dayaram Roy. Later Nayeb built some palaces there. The palace has a total of 12 buildings surrounded by a lake and a wall covering an area of about 43 acres. At the apex of the pyramid-shaped four-storied entrance of the Uttara Ganabhavan is a clock manufactured by the famous Coke & Telvy Company. And upon entering the main palace building, one can see the king’s throne, armor and sword. The palace grounds have gardens decorated with sculptures collected from Italy. Various species of trees such as Haparamali, Neelmanilata, Raj-Ashoka, Parijat, Camphor, Saurabhi, Haimanti, Yastimadhu, Banpulak, Payali, Senuti, Tarajhara, Cycas, Madhavi etc. have been placed in this charming garden. Besides, there is the bust of Raja Prasannanath, the sculpture of Zamindar Dayaram, four cannons, Kumar Bhavan, Tehsil Office and Guest House.
Uttara Ganabhavan, located just 3 km from the district town of Natore, is currently used as the local office and residence of the Prime Minister of Bangladesh in North Bengal. So to visit the Uttara Ganobhaban, the permission of the district administration has to be taken.
Uttara Ganobhaban Visit Schedule :
Uttara Gana Bhavan is open for visitors from 10 am to 6 pm during summer but closes at 5 pm during winter. Uttara Ganabhaban is closed every Sunday of the week. How to go
Natore can be reached from Dhaka by road and rail. It takes only 15 minutes to go to Uttara Ganabhavan by CNG-powered autorickshaw from Natore bus stop or railway station. Or get enough rickshaws or autorickshaws to go to Uttara Ganabhaban from anywhere in Natore. A rickshaw fare of Tk 30 is required to go to Uttara Ganabhavan from Natore Madrasa Junction.
