There is a special stone plaque written in Arabic on the west wall of the Gerda Mosque located in Gerda village, 7 km from Faridpur Sadar, this plaque is known as Gerda Folok. It is believed that the Gerda mosque was built around this plaque written in 1013 Hijri or 1604 AD. And the plaque is built on a fragment of an ancient mosque built by Shah Ali Baghdadi.
Gerda board is 12 inches in length and 36 inches in width. This ancient mosque still has some valuable relics intact. Among them are the wooden plate used by Shah Ali Baghdadi, turban, Zaynamaz, tasbi made of fish hook, jubba used by Hazrat Abdul Qader Jilani, mustache of Hazrat Ali (RA) blessed, hair of Hazrat Hassan (RA) blessed, world prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) )’s beard Mubarak etc. are notable
How to go
Faridpur can be reached by bus and train from the capital Dhaka. Comfort Line, Royal Paribahan, Suryamukhi Paribahan, Golden Line, Anand Paribahan, South Line, Ajmeri Enterprise etc. buses ply on Dhaka-Faridpur route from Gabtali Bus Stand via Padma Bridge. The bus fare will cost 400-500 taka depending on the standard. Apart from this, Faridpur can be reached by Sundarban Express, Madhumati Express and Benapole Express trains from Dhaka Kamalapur Railway Station. Train fare will be 305 to 696 taka per seat. Gerda Masjid can be reached by any local transport from Faridpur district city.
