Babu Daing

Babu Daing Picnic Spot (Babu Daing Picnic Spot) is located in the naturally beautiful hill forest in Jhelim Union, 10 km away from Chapainawabganj district headquarters. This hilly forest of Barendra region covers an area of about 300 acres with some parts of Rajshahi’s Godagari and Chapainawabganj Sadar upazilas. At the end of the forest, the hill-like hill rising eastward from the round square is known as Babudaing. Looking down from this square, you will notice the strange and beautiful forest with waves that fascinates the tourists. Beyond this forest, you will see various unknown birds living in the trees and several beautiful waterfalls. Besides, a cross-dam has been constructed in the 2.5 km long lake which is naturally formed in the middle of the forest. The land is irrigated using lake water through this dam. The water of this dam flowing at high speed looks like a fountain from a distance. One has to cross this dam and walk through the grass on both sides to go to the Babudaing picnic spot.
Built under the government of Bangladesh, this picnic spot surrounded by various species of plants is inhabited by tribal communities. About 1.5 lakh saplings were planted and 5 ponds dug at this Babudaing picnic spot by Barendra Multipurpose Development (BMDA) about 25 years ago. Currently there is a plan to build a cantonment of Bangladesh Army here.
