In 2005, Satchari National Park was established on Raghunandan Hills in Chunarughat Upazila of Habiganj District of Sylhet Division with an area of about 243 hectares. The place is named Satchari from the seven hill springs or springs located in the naturally formed Satchari National Park. Earlier Satchari National Park was known as Raghunandan Hill Reserve Forest.
Satchari National Park has around 145 species of plants. Besides, this forest has 6 species of amphibians, 18 species of reptiles, 24 species of mammals and about 149 species of birds. Among the animals found in Satchari National Park are tigers, owls, face-faced Hanuman, pigs, shy monkeys, spectacled Hanuman and various species of snakes. Birds include Red-headed Tugon, Dhanesh, Dove, Tia, Eagle, Myna etc. Satchari National Park is surrounded by 9 tea estates, tribal and local villages and cropland. As a result, the livelihood of the families living around the park is largely dependent on the forest resources.
What to see in Satchari National Park
3 trails have been developed in the forest under Nisarga program for the convenience of tourists.
* Half hour trail:
If you travel along this 1 km long trail, you will reach Tiprapara, the only tribal village located in the forest

If you want to get acquainted with the diverse fauna and flora of Satchari Udyan, there is no alternative to this trail.
*** Three hour trail:
Stretching for about 6 km, this trail is ideal for bird lovers. At the edge of this trail is the Agar forest.
Guide
If you want to do trekking in the forest, you can get a guide for Tk 200 to Tk 500 depending on the trail from the inquiry or information center of Satchari Udyan. Although maps are provided in the office premises, if you want to enter the deep forest, take a guide with you to avoid risk.
Tree Adventure Activity or Tree Activity
Tree Activities or Tree Adventures have recently been introduced in Sathura National Park to add a different dimension to travel for the travel-crazy tourists. Entrance fee to the park
To enter Satchari Udyan, any adult man or woman has to pay Tk 20 per person, minor children and students Tk 10 per person and foreigner’s entry is equivalent to $5 per person. Besides, if you want to have picnic in Satchari National Park, you have the opportunity to enter the park at the rate of 10 taka per person. And for car parking in the park, a fee of 25 taka per car has to be paid.
How to go
By bus from Dhaka
If you want to go to Satchari National Park from Dhaka, take London, Hanif, Green Line, Ena, Shyamoli, Mithali, Mamun, Sylhet.
After Madhavpur take any transport bus like Modern, Al Mubaraka, Bhangredoot, Digant and Bismillah etc.
Get off at Teliapara Biswabed (locally Teillapara) Muktijodha Chatwar and take Maxi or CNG from there.
It is most convenient to go directly to Satchari. But if you want, you can take a bus from Dhaka to Muktijoddha Chatwar at your convenience
Or you can go to Satchari by CNG from Shaistaganj. AC from Dhaka to Shaistaganj
And non-AC bus ticket price per person ranges from Tk 530 to Tk 1000. Bus fare is usually time dependent.
By train from Dhaka
If you want to come from Dhaka by train to Satchari, you have to take the Parabat, Jayantika, Kalni or Upaban Express train from Kamalapur or Airport Station of Dhaka and get down at Shaistaganj Bellway Station. Dhaka to Parabat Express on Tuesdays, Upaban Express on Wednesdays, Kalni Express on Fridays and Jayantika Express leave the station for Sylhet at 6:30 AM, 11:15 AM, 2:55 PM and 10 PM respectively on other days of the week except Tuesday. The ticket price per person in the train is 235 to 811 taka depending on the class.
From Chittagong
Paharika Express train departs from Chittagong to Sylhet at 7:50 am on Mondays on weekly breaks and other days of the week. And except Wednesday, Udayan Express leaves for Sylhet at 9:45 PM on other 6 days of the week. The ticket price in these two trains is 310 to 1058 taka.
Shaistaganj to Satchari National Park
From Shaistaganj local CNG fare of Tk. 20 per person to reach Chunarughat and from there to another CNG to Satchari will cost Tk. 20 per person. Besides, you can rent CNG directly from Shaistaganj to Sathuri.
From Dhaka to Noapara to Satchari
It will take 15 to 20 taka fare to go from Dhaka by train to Noapara railway station and take CNG to Jagdish Temuinna (Te-Mohana). You can take a bus from Jagdish Temuina to Chunarughat at a fare of Tk 15 or get off at the gate of Satchari National Park by CNG. But if you want to go to Satchari via Noapara, make sure whether the train will stop at Noapara station and if it doesn’t, there is no reason to worry.
