Chandranath Hill is a place of pilgrimage for Hindus and the vast sea makes Sitakunda unique. Chandranath Pahar is located just 4 km east of Sitakunda Bazar. From Sitakunda Bazar you can walk or take a rickshaw to the lower gate of Chandranath Pahar. However, on the way to Chandranath Hill on foot, you can see several religious buildings of Hindus and the life of the inhabitants. Also, if you go a little deeper into the hill, you will see the jacket and flower gardens cultivated for commercial purposes. Chandranath Temple is located at the top of Chandranath Hill.
A small spring is seen on the way to Chandranath Hill. From this spring the way up the mountain goes in two directions. The entire path on the right side is made of stairs to climb the hill and the path on the left side is completely hilly. It is generally easier to go up the hill and down the stairs. The height of Chandranath Hill is 1152 feet. Walking is a bit of a chore, but how long it takes depends on your gait. Usually, it will take about 1 hour 30 minutes to arrive if it is slow. Chandranath temple is situated on top of Chandranath hill. There are small thong shops in the middle distance of Chandranath Hill and near the top of the temple where light food and puja materials are available, but it is better to carry enough water and some dry food for the time of the climb. Every year on the occasion of Mahashivratri, a large number of Hindu devotees visit the Chandranath hill and temple on pilgrimage.
How to go
Chandranath Pahar is located in Sitakunda Upazila of Chittagong District. So from where you want to see Chandranath Pahar you have to come to Sitakunda first. From Sitakunda, you can go to the foot of Chandranath Pahar for a CNG fare of Tk 20 per person.
Dhaka to Sitakund by bus: From any bus stand in Syedabad, Fakirapool, Mohakhali in Dhaka to Chittagong.
You can go to Sitakund by any bus. S Alam, Shamli, Saudia, Unique, Hanif, Eagle, Ena, etc.
Non-AC bus fare for transport is Tk 420-480. Among the AC buses are Greenline, Saudia, Sohag, and T, and these buses Rent 800-1100 Tk.
Dhaka to Sitakund by train: Any intercity train from Dhaka to Chittagong should alight at Feni station. Train fare is Tk 250-1035 per person depending on the class. From Feni station, you have to go to Feni Mohipal bus stand by rickshaw/auto for Tk 10-15. From there you can go to Sitakund by local bus for Tk 50-80.
