The name of Hail Haor is a large wetland spread across Bahubal upazila of Moulvibazar district headquarters, Srimangal and Habiganj districts of Sylhet division. The total area of Hail Haor surrounded by 14 bills is about 10 thousand hectares. It is also known as Latapatar Haor to the locals due to its abundance of vines and shrubs.
Haor’s traditional natural beauty, the blue sky and the beauty of the water are like a real picture of the artist’s pen. Therefore, travelers from all over the country rush to this paradise to enjoy the nature in the heart of Howrah. Hail Haoor has no dearth of biodiversity as well as breathtaking beauty. About 98 species of fish and about 160 species of birds can be observed in this haor.
Best time to visit Hail Haur: Generally monsoon is the best time to visit Haur region. But if you want to witness the chirping of thousands of different species of birds, then you can travel to Hail Haw between November and February.
How to go
Sylhet-bound buses of Hanif, Shyamoli, S Alam, Ena transport can reach Srimangal from Dhaka’s Fakirapool or Syedabad bus terminal. The rent will be Tk 570-650. Besides, Srimangal can be reached by intercity trains like Parabat, Jayantika, Upaban, Kalni etc. from Kamalapur railway station. The train ticket fare will cost from Tk 275 to Tk 938 depending on the class.
Go to Hajipur Bazar via Baruna-Hazipur paved road via Kalapur Bazar located on Srimangal-Moulvibazar road. Although this market is known as Ghaterbazar to locals. You can reach Hail Haor which is only 4 km away from Ghaterbazar by any local vehicle or on foot.
