Similarly, Manipuri Village has been built around the cloth trade of Manipuri community in Adampur Union in Kamalganj Upazila of Srimangal, about 27 kilometers away from Moulvibazar city. The local Manipuris here themselves make various cloth products. There is a huge demand for Manipuri products in the country and abroad. Apart from this, due to its own culture and tradition, the fame of Manipuri has spread worldwide.
Tourists enjoy the Manipuri lifestyle and culture along with the breathtaking views of hills, tea plantations and forest land in Srimangal. Especially the traditional Manipuri dance, the Ras Mela held every year at the beginning of the Bengali Agrahayan month is notable. Various items like Khami, handwoven shawls, Chandar, Saree, Selwar-kameez, Bag, Fatwa, Punjabi can be bought in Ras Mela. Although you can buy these Manipuri products from local shops in Srimangal throughout the year, the fun of shopping from Manipuri Palli or Ras Mela is different. How to go
Srimangal can be reached by taking any bus or train from Dhaka to Sylhet. Numerous buses ply this route including Hanif, Ena, Shyamoli and Sylhet Express. And from Kamalapur railway station you can reach Srimangal by Paharika, Upban, Jayantika, Parabat and Kalni Express trains. The train ticket fare will cost from Tk 275 to Tk 627 depending on the class. If you want, you can reach Sylhet by air from Dhaka and then take a bus or car to Srimangal. On reaching Srimangal, one can conveniently hire any local vehicle to reach the Manipuri village of Adampur.
