Madhabkunda Waterfall is located in Baralekha Upazila of Moulvibazar District. Even a few years ago, Madhavakund was the only attraction for the waterfall loving tourists in Bangladesh. At present several more springs have been discovered in Bangladesh. However, the appeal of Madhavakund Jharna to the tourists has not diminished a bit. Resthouses and restaurants of Bangladesh Tourism Corporation have been built here under government initiative and Madhavkund Ecopark has been established in 2001 with an area of 267 acres. After walking about half a kilometer from the main gate of Madhavkund Ecopark, you will see Madhavkund Jharna. This beautiful waterfall is about 162 feet high.
There is another spring called Parikunda near the Madhavakunda falls. The fountain can be reached by walking for 10-15 minutes along the stream. Madhavakund Ecopark is quite enjoyable to visit. There is an opportunity to spend the whole day here. The Ecopark also has Sri Sri Madhveshwar’s shrine, tea plantation, Khasia Palli, orange, lemon, betel nut and betel nut plantations. Somewhere you will also see jum cultivation. On Madhukrishna Troyodashi Tithi in the month of Chaitra, Baruni Snan of Hindus is held in the pool adjacent to the Madhavakunda Falls and fairs are organized here as well. Entrance ticket to Madhavakunda Ecopark is Tk 10 per person.
Best time to go
Although winter is a good time to travel, the water in the spring is less in winter. If you think in that direction then if you visit Madhavkund Jharna during or around Monsoon then there will be a lot of water in the Jharna.
