Shamsher Gazi’s Tunnel is located next to Shamsher Gazi’s royal garden house in Shubopur of Chagalnaya upazila of Feni district. 350 years ago, Shamser Ghazi, known as the hero of Bhatti, was the king of Tripura, an anti-British revolutionary leader, and the visionary leader of the peasant revolt of Roshanabad Pargana, Tripura.
In 1840, Shamser Gazi became known as the sole powerful ruler and local superpower of Chakla Roshanabad in the South Comilla and North Noakhali areas. During that time, he protested against the oppression and tyranny imposed by the British and British and gave away rent to many poor farmers, including free land. Shamsher Ghazi constructed a light and a tunnel over an area of 4.36 acres next to his royal residence. Shamser Gazi’s Dighi tunnel is one of the various monuments of modern warfare for the defense of the fort and capital. Today, the dilapidated tunnel remains as a memorial to Shamser Gazi.
How to go
You can go to Feni by Shyamoli, Unique, Sohag, Green Line, S Alam, Kaya, and Saudia Paribahan buses from Dhaka. Besides, Feni can be reached by Mahanagar Godhuli and Turna Express trains from Dhaka’s Kamalapur railway station. From Chagalnaia Upazila of Feni, you can go to the Shamser Ghazi Dighi tunnel by local transport.
