Shaurindra Kishore Roy Chowdhury was born in 1293 Bengal, son of Ramgopalpur zamindar Yogendra Kishore Roy Chowdhury. Shaurindra Kishore Roy Chowdhury gained fame by writing a book called ‘Barendrabahman Zamindar’ on the history of zamindars of Gouripur and nearby areas. It is believed that the Ramgopalpur Zamidar Bari was built in the 1850s. However, no specific information is available about the original founder of the Ramgopalpur zamindar dynasty. Although the zamindari age of Gouripur is almost 150 years, most of the zamindars of Gouripur left the country during the partition of the country in 1947. As a result, the tradition of the Ramgopalpur zamindar house is also on the way to extinction due to the lack of care due to the evolution of time.
The once-luxurious Ramgopalpur zamindar’s zoo, garden house, rangam, sea pond, elaborate pond ghat and 3-storied toran are now just memories. Nothing remains except the two entrances of the zamindar’s house, the ruined walls and the temple. Various pujas are still held in the temple of the zamindar’s house.
