Alutila Cave is the name of a natural cave located in the Alutila tourist center in Khagrachhari district of Chittagong Hill Tracts. Alutila Cave is known as ‘Matai Hakar’ or ‘God’s Cave’ to the locals.
The length of Alutila cave is 350 feet. It is always dark inside the cave so a torch is required to enter the cave. If you want, you can take a mobile torch or charge light as an alternative to a torch. Also, the rocks inside the cave are quite slippery so shoes with good grip should be worn.
Before entering the Alutila cave, one has to collect a ticket for 40 taka from the main gate. It takes only 10 to 15 minutes to enter from one end of the cave and exit from the other end. And near Alutila Cave is Risang Jharna. It would not be right to visit Alutila and leave without seeing the fountain so close.
How to go
If you want to visit Alutila Cave, you have to come to Khagrachari first. Then you have to go to Alutila cave by local transport from Khagrachari. Alutila Cave is located in Mati Ranga Upazila, 7 km from Khagrachari town.
AC/Non-AC buses of Khagrachari Shanti, Hanif, S Alam, Shyamoli, Econo, and Eagle Transport ply from Dhaka. According to the quality of transport service, non-AC bus fares are Tk 750-850 and AC bus ticket fares are Tk 1000-1600.
If you want to go to Khagrachari from Chittagong, you can take the BRTC and Shanti Paribahan bus from Chittagong Oxygen Junction. Besides, several local buses also go to Khagrachari. It will take 4-5 hours to travel from Chittagong.
