The house of Zamindar Lakshmi Narayan Vaishnav, located in Dalal Bazar Union of Laxmipur district headquarters, is well known as Dalal Bazar Zamindar Bari. Although the zamindar house is currently used as a land office, the impression of that time’s tradition can be clearly observed in the layout of the house.
Dalal Bazar zamindar house with an area of about 5 acres has a royal entrance arch in front. And in the zamindar house, zamindar palace, royal palace, Andar Mahal, Shan bandhano ghat, Nat Mandir, Puja mandap, iron chest etc. are located.
history
It is known that zamindar Lakshmi Narayan Vaishnava came to Lakshmipur from Calcutta about four hundred years ago. Zamindar Lakshmi Narayan Vaishnava’s later successors acquired the commercial agency and zamindari of the East India Company. Being commercial agents of the East India Company, the successors of Lakshmi Narayan Vaishnav came to be known as ‘Dalal’ by the local people. In the communal riots of 1946, the zamindars left the country and moved to other places, leaving the zamindar house abandoned.
How to go
Several transport buses including Greenland Express, Albaraka, Alam, Royal, Econo and Dhaka Express depart for Lakshmipur from Syedabad Bus Terminal in capital Dhaka. It takes 4/5 hours to reach Laxmipur from Sayedabad. The bus fare from Dhaka to Laxmipur is Tk 650 to Tk 800 per person.
