Haji Mohammad Danesh University of Science and Technology

Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science & Technology University is the first science and technology university established in Rangpur division for the purpose of human resource development and global acceptance. The university was named after the farmer leader Haji Mohammad Danesh, the father of the Tevaga movement. In 1976, the University started its journey as Agricultural Extension Training Institute and then offered Diploma Degree in Agriculture. Then in 1988 under Bangladesh Agricultural University it was upgraded to Graduate Agricultural College. On September 11, 1999, it was announced that this agricultural college would be upgraded to a university. As a result of this, Haji Mohammad Danesh University of Science and Technology was established on April 8, 2002 through the issuance of a notification by His Excellency the President. This 130 acre university currently offers certificates in 22 subjects under 8 faculties. Haji Mohammad Danesh University of Science and Technology, standing high in the midst of greenery, has a beautiful red-white brick building, gymnasium, canteen, D-box square, TSC, central Jame Masjid, central Shaheed Minar, academic building, administrative building, Student hostel, seminar room and two auditoriums.

How to go

Haji Mohammad Danesh University of Science and Technology is located on Dhaka-Dinajpur highway. The distance from Dinajpur city to the university is about 10 km. You can reach the university by hiring an autorickshaw or CNG from Dinajpur city or by taking the university bus. Dinajpur can be reached by bus and train from Dhaka. Bus services from Gabtali and Kalyanpur in Dhaka to Dinajpur include Nabil Paribahan, SR Travels, SA Paribahan, Hanif Enterprise, Kaya Paribahan, Shyamoli Paribahan etc. Non-AC and AC bus fare is Tk 800 to Tk 1500 depending on the standard. Besides, several buses leave from Uttara in the capital for Dinajpur. Inter-city express train from Kamalapur railway station in Dhaka leaves for Dinajpur at 8 pm. Intercity train Ekta Express departs from Dhaka at 10:15 AM. And the Panchagarh Express train leaves Dhaka at 11:30 PM. It takes 575 to 1,978 taka to buy tickets for these trains depending on the category.
