Gaibandha Municipal Park is an open space well known as a social recreation center under the control of Gaibandha Municipality. Gaibandha Pouro Park started its journey in 1927 on 1 acre of 7th century land donated by Zamindar Gobind Lal Roy considering the recreation of the residents of Gaibandha district town. Centered around a pond, the park has a variety of flowers, fruits and forest trees. And there is a water fountain in the middle of the pond and a sun-blocked ghat on one side. One can spend a leisurely afternoon sitting on the banks of this calm and beautiful pond, so the number of visitors increases as the day progresses. The open air and pure natural environment with pond ghats, colorful fish, rows of benches, canteens, galleries and various animal portraits draw people of all ages to Gaibandha Municipal Park.
How to go
Several AC/Non-AC buses ply from different parts of the capital Dhaka to reach Gaibandha district. Notable among them are Shyamoli Paribahan, Al Hamra Paribahan, SR Travels Pvt Ltd and Orin Travels. Bus fare per person ranges from Tk 700 to Tk 1100 depending on the type of bus. Besides, Rangpur Express, Burimari Express and Lalmonirhat Express trains can go to Gaibandha from Dhaka’s Kamalapur railway station. Train fare will be 550 to 1886 taka per seat. Gaibandha Municipal Park can easily be reached by rickshaws, autorickshaws from Gaibandha District Bus Stand.
