Atkandi Mosque

Maulana Alim Uddin built the historical Atkandi Mosque (Atkandi Nilkuthi Mosque) about 150 years ago in Atkandi village of Raipura Upazila of Narsingdi. Since there are no inscriptions, the exact date of construction of the mosque is not available. However, it is estimated that the Akhtandi Mosque was built around 1890. Athakandi Masjid is popularly known as Nilkuthi Masjid to locals.
Built on the banks of the Little Meghna River, the Athakandi Mosque looks a lot like the Taj Mahal in Agra. The mosque has a total of 34 elaborate arches. The thick walls of the Nil Kuthi Mosque built on the lines of Mughal period architecture, the stone-inlaid mihrab and floor, the aesthetic design of flowers and leaves have multiplied the beauty of the mosque. The total number of domes in Akhtandi Mosque is 8, of which 3 are in the main mosque and the remaining 5 small domes are outside the main mosque. There are 5 entrance doors to the porch of the mosque but 2 entrance doors to the main mosque building.

How to go

Come to Narsingdi Old Bus Stand from Mohakhali, Saidabad or Tongi Bus Stand in Dhaka. From there take a rickshaw to Arshinagar CNG stand and ride CNG to Amirganj railway station. From Amirganj you can take a rickshaw or CNG to go to Akhtandi Neelkuthi Masjid.
If you want to go by train from Dhaka, you can get down at Narsingdi railway station and take CNG or auto to reach Neelkuthi Masjid via Amirganj.
