Char Alexandar – ExploreBD

Location of Char Alexander in Union No. 4 of Ramgati Upazila of Laxmipur District. During British rule, an English gentleman named Alexander was working as revenue collector in Ramagati Aceland office. The union was named Alexander after him. Char Alexander (Char Alexander) is currently one of the tourist areas of Lakshmipur. Many people come here every day to see the beauty of Meghna embankment and river built under the supervision of Bangladesh Army.

Green fields all around, waves of the Meghna crashing on the embankment and the immense beauty of nature, one can find a touch of tranquility. If you have some more time, you can also visit Suvarna Char and Nuru Patwari’s Char Alexander Ghat. Spending an afternoon in pure nature and returning home with the sunset will give you a lot of relief from the monotony of the busy life. And here you can find yogurt made with buffalo milk, you can try it if you want.

How to go

Bandura can be directly reached by bus from Gulisthan in Dhaka. Or come to Doha through Babubazar Bridge of Dhaka or Shaheed Buddhijibi Bridge (3rd Buriganga Bridge) and reach Kalakopa in Nawabganj and take the road from Kalakopa towards Bandura and you will reach Khelaram Data’s house.Several transport buses including Greenland Express, Albaraka, Alam, Royal, Econo and Dhaka Express depart for Lakshmipur from Syedabad Bus Terminal in capital Dhaka. Among them only AC coach of Royals. It takes 4/5 hours to reach Laxmipur from Sayedabad. Dhaka to Lakshmipur bus fare is 650 to 900 taka per person (variable). Get off the bus in front of Laxmipur Jhumur cinema hall and from there take a local bus to Alexander Ghat at a fare of Tk 50 per person (variable).

Besides, one can reach Alexander Launch Ghat directly by Ramgatti bus from Chittagong. Or you can take a Himachal or Ekushe express bus from Dhaka to Noakhali and get off at Sonapur from there by Suvarnachar Express bus or CNG to Char Alexander Chairman Ghat.
