The location of Char Kukri Mukri (Char Kukri Mukri) is about 120 km from Bhola city at the estuary of the Meghna River at the mouth of the Bay of Bengal. Which is known as one of the largest wildlife sanctuaries in Bangladesh. Once more dogs and rats (here known as Mekur) were found in this pasture, hence it became popular among local people as Char Kukri Mukri. On May 14, 1989, under the supervision of the Forest Department, the afforestation of the mangrove national tree, protected on about 360,000 acres of land, began. Char kukri mukri forests have places like Sundari, Gewa, Pasur, Keora, Coconut, Bamboo and Cane. At present, the forest area in Kukuri Mukuri Char is 8565 hectares, of which 217 hectares are wildlife sanctuaries and about 4810 hectares for settlement and agriculture. Fishing and agriculture are the main occupations of the people living in Char Kukri Mukri.
Animals in Char Kukri Mukri Sanctuary include Chitra Deer, Monkey, Fox, Wild Goat, Wild Buffalo-Cow, Forest Rooster, Forest Cat etc. Besides, there are various species of birds and reptiles like buck, conch, Mathura, forest cock, wood peafowl, quail etc. A large number of guest birds arrive at this Char Kukri Mukri during winter. Besides, the beach of Kukri Mukri Char is quiet and clean. Its forests have more than 9 crore living trees. Char Kukrimukari, the untenanted canal flowing through the chest has become the Meghna river and has flowed into the Bay of Bengal. The Bay of Bengal goes ahead after crossing Char sandbank. Here too you will find the atmosphere of Cox’s Bazar or Kuakata beach. Locals know this place as Balur Ghum. One can also enjoy the wonderful view of sunrise and sunset from the beach of Kukrimukri.

How to go

The easiest way to go to Char Kukri Mukri is by river. Traveling by river means less cost and physical hardship. There are two ways to reach Char Kukri Mukri by river route. You can board a Bhola-bound launch from Dhaka’s Sadghat and get off at Ghosh’s Hat Launch Terminal and directly hire a Laguna to reach Char Kachhpiya Ghat. And on the other way, from Ghosh’s Hat Launch Terminal, one has to come to Char Kachpiya Ghat via Charfashan Aicha. But it is better to go to Char Kachpiya directly from Ghosh’s Hut launch terminal. Let’s know the details of going to Char Kukri Mukri at a glance.
From Dhaka’s Sadarghat, Prince of Russel-4, Karnaphuli-4, New Sabbir 2 and 3 launches should be boarded at a convenient time and launch to get off at Bholar Ghosh’s Hat Launch Terminal. The rent of these launch decks is 250 to 300 taka, single cabin rent is 900 to 1000 taka and double cabin rent is 1800 to 2200 taka. Rent a motorbike from the ghat for 150 taka or ride a tempo for 70 to 80 taka and come to Charfashion Sadar from there, take a bus fare of 30 taka or rent a motorbike for 200 taka to South Aicha. From South Aicha you can go to Char Kachchhia by renting a tempo or motorcycle for 15 to 30 taka. Char Kukri-Mukri will be reached by trawler for 50 to 60 taka from Char Kachpia.
It will take 40 to 50 minutes to reach Char Kachhpiya Ghat, 30 kilometers away, by launching from Sadar Ghat in Dhaka and going down to Ghosh’s Hat Launch Terminal. The rent of Laguna will be 40 to 50 taka per person, if you take a reservation, it may cost up to 700 to 800 taka. From Char Kachchpia Ghat, take a local trawler at a fare of 55 taka across Tetulia river to Char Kukri Mukri Bazar. 1 local trawler at 9 am and 1 at 12 noon leave for Char Kukri Mukri every day. So stay at Char Kachpiya Ghat during low hours to avoid trouble. Besides, you can reserve a trawler and you will have to spend 600 to 800 rupees.
It is important to note that all launches from Dhaka depart between 5pm and 6pm and depart from Ghosh Hat between 3pm and 4pm. And the route plan of the launch is often changed so call to confirm which route the launch will travel before the journey.
