Jamalpur Shahi Masjid is located in Bara Jamalpur village under Sadullapur upazila, 16 km west of Gaibandha district headquarters. According to legend, 360 awliyas from Iraq spread to different parts of the world to spread Islam about 600 years ago. Among them, this historic Shahi Mosque was built under the supervision of Sufi Hazrat Shah Jamal (RA) who came to Gaibandha and the Union Parishad and the mosque were named after him. The shrine of Hazrat Shah Jamal is located on the north side of the mosque. The Jamalpur Shahi Mosque was buried in the ground for a long time. Later in the 60th century, a person named Haqqani Qutbuddin, the administrator of Gaibandha Sub-Division tried to search the mosque but failed. The local people saw the mosque when the banyan trees growing in the place of the mosque were suddenly broken by a heavy storm. For this reason, many people call it Ghaibi Mosque. There is a huge Dighi in front of the mosque, and there are many legends surrounding the Dighi.
How to go
You can go to Gaibandha by SR Travels, Al Hamra Paribahan, Orin Travels, Shyamoli Paribahan AC/Non-AC buses from Dhaka. AC/Non-AC bus fares will be Tk 650 to 1100. Besides, one can go to Gaibandha by Rangpur or Lalmoni Express train from Dhaka Kamalapur railway station. The fare will be Tk 550 to Tk 1886 per seat. Location of Jamalpur Shahi Masjid near Senior Alim Madrasa in Sadullapur Union of Gaibandha District. From Gaibandha you can reach Sadullapur by bus and you can reach Jamalpur Shahi Masjid by autorickshaw or CNG.
