Chapainawabganj district is called the capital of mangoes. And that is the biggest mango market of Bangladesh sitting in Kansat of Shibganj upazila of Chapainawabganj district. Every mango season, mangoes worth more than 100 crore rupees are sold in this big mango market of the country. During the mango season, this mango market is packed every day from dawn to dusk. While there are many mango markets in Rajshahi and Chapainawabganj, Kansat Mango Market is the largest and most famous for its wholesale market. This is like a mango kingdom. While visiting the mango market, you can buy and eat a variety of fresh ripe mangoes. Besides, you can buy mangoes by the basket for yourself.
Good time to go
Mainly, mangoes start coming to this market after the mangoes are ripe. Kansat market is usually full of mangoes from last week of May till July. But the entire period of June is basically the most crowded.
How to go
The easiest way to go to Chapai Nawabganj is by bus. Desh Travels, National Travels, Grameen Travels, Tuhin Elite AC and Non AC buses from Kalyanpur and Gabtali of Dhaka go directly to Chapainawabganj. AC/Non AC bus fare is Tk 830-1500 depending on the standard. You can go directly to Kansat by these buses or you can get down in Chapainawabganj city and take any other local vehicle to Kansat which is 21 km away.
Besides, one can go to Chapainawabganj district by Banlata Express train from Kamalapur railway station. The fare will be 515 to 1173 taka per seat. But if you want to do a day trip, it is better to go directly by bus. In that case, you will leave the previous night and reach the next day morning, you can travel all day and leave for Dhaka by evening bus.
