Karatia Jomidar Bari (Karatia Jomidar Bari) is located on the banks of Putiyar River, just 10 km from Tangail city. Zamindar Wazed Ali Khan Panni built the house using Mughal and Chinese architectural techniques. About 1 km in length and 0.5 km in width, Kartia Zamindar’s house is surrounded by a wall. The zamindar houses include Lohar Ghar, Rani’s Pukurghat, Rokeya Mahal, Chhota Taraf Daud Mahal and a historic mosque built in Mughal architecture. The mosque has a total of eight domes and a 15 feet high minaret. Karatia Zamindar House is also known as Karatia Rajbari.
How to go
Distance from Dhaka to Tangail by road is about 84 km. It takes about 2 to 2 and a half hours to go to Tangail via Tongi. From Dhaka’s Mohakhali Bus Terminal, Nirala, Baram, Jhatika, Dhaleswari etc. buses leave regularly for Tangail. All these buses cost 200 to 250 taka to go to Tangail. Boarding all these buses, getting off the bus near Kartia Bypass and taking a rickshaw to go to Kartia Zamindar’s house will cost 20 to 25 Tk.
Besides, if you want to go by train, you can check some trains from Dhaka to North Bengal stop at Tangail railway station. Then you can easily go to Tangail by train.
