Kullapathar Sohid Smritisoudho is a burial place built for the memory of martyred freedom fighters in Kasba upazila of Brahmanbaria district. In 1971, there were tombs of about 50 people who fought bravely with the Pak army and were martyred in this Kullapathar, which is full of memories of the liberation war.
During the Liberation War, the bordering Kasba Upazila was under Sector No. 2. Due to the training camp of the freedom fighters located in Agartala, India, this area was repeatedly attacked by the Pakistani army, and the dead bodies of the martyrs were scattered in different places because the war was organized several times. Even their burial was not done properly. Freedom fighter Abdul Karim, a resident of Tathan Kasba, and his relatives used to collect the bodies of unidentified martyred freedom fighters in their ancestral house and bury them after bathing and funeral.
A total of 50 freedom fighters were martyred at that time, including 2 Bir Bikram, 1 Bir Uttam, and 2 Bir Pratikam. When Abdul Karim and his wife died after the liberation war, they were also buried in Kullapathar. In 1972, the government initiated the construction of memorials, memorial plaques, grave walls, arches, rest houses, ponds, and mosques, writing the names and addresses of freedom fighters on each grave, and implementing afforestation projects in the surrounding areas of Shahid Samadhi. A large number of visitors came to pay respect to the martyrs of 1973 in a quiet environment surrounded by trees.
