Lakkatura Tea Garden

Lakkatura tea garden is located on the hill at the northern end of Osmani Airport in Chowkidekhi Upazila of Sylhet district, known as the land of two leaves a bud. This government tea plantation under the National Tea Board covers an area of ​​about 1293 hectares or about 3200 acres. Lakkatura tea garden is one of the largest tea gardens in the country surrounded by numerous tea trees and high rolling hills. Annually around 500,000 kg of tea produced from this tea garden is exported abroad to meet the domestic demand.
The main entrance of Lakkatura Bagan is visible on the right from Osmani Airport Road. On the left are tea factories and rubber plantations. A crooked road leads from the factory. Tea garden manager and assistant manager’s bungalow on the side of the road. The tea garden also has many types of trees including orange, betel nut, tang fruit, agar, atar. Near the Lakkatura tea garden is Bangladesh’s first commercially established Malnichhara tea garden and the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium.

How to go

Sylhet can be reached by bus, train and plane from Dhaka. You can go to Sylhet by Greenline, Saudia, S Alam, Ena, Shyamoli Paribahan buses from Dhaka’s Gabtali and Syedabad. Non AC bus fare is Tk 680 to Tk 700 per person and AC bus fare is Tk 1400 to Tk 1500 per person. And Upaban, Kalni, Jayantika and Parabat express trains go to Sylhet from Kamalapur railway station. The ticket price per person of the train is 375 to 1288 taka depending on the class. Besides, domestic airlines like NovoAir, US Bangla or Biman Bangladesh can go to Sylhet from Shahjalal Airport. Lakkatura Tea Gardens can be easily reached by local transport from Sylhet.
