Rajban Bihar, the largest Buddhist temple in Bangladesh, is located in the Rangamati district. Among the tourist attractions of Rangamati, this Rajvan Vihar is one of the tourist attractions. Venerable Sadhanananda Mahasthavir Vanvante, the thought-propagator, and religious-philosopher Buddhist leader came to Rangamati for permanent residence in 1977. This monastery was built for the residence of Vanabhanta and his disciples. This monastery, which is of special importance to Buddhists, has now become an international Buddhist pilgrimage site. The Vihar has a beautiful Upasana Vihar, Deshnalaya built in modern architectural design, Banvant’s residence and rest house, Bhikshu-Sramanas residential building, large guest house, Chakramanghar, Seemaghar (Ghanghar), function stage, seven-storied heaven house, 10-bed hospital, many Bhavana cottages, kitchen, Banvante and Bhikshusangha dining hall, own library and press. Apart from this, there is a boundary wall around the entire Bihar for security.
Rajvan Vihar is a religious establishment. Do not take pictures, video, loiter, shout, be loud, or make noise in any offensive manner. Tourists are not allowed to enter the Bihar premises captivated and unauthorized entry and photo/video are prohibited.
How to go
Dhaka to Rangamati: There are several bus services to Rangamati from Fakirapool and Syedabad in Dhaka. Buses usually leave Dhaka for Rangamati between 8 am to 9 am and 8.30 pm to 11 pm. Shamli, Unique, Hanif and S Alam Paribahan buses ply among the non-AC buses on the Dhaka-Rangamati route. Non-AC bus fare is Tk 850-900. Among AC buses, Saint Martin Hyundai Robi Express, Hanif Enterprise, and Shyamoli bus fare is Tk 1200-1800.
Rangamati to Rajban Vihar: It is approx 5 kilometers away from Rangamati city, from there auto rikshaw are available. You can also get there by boat.
