Innumerable bills are scattered in different places of Gopalganj district. Basically most of the bills are single crop land. Paddy is grown in this land only during Boro season. During monsoon, these lands are submerged under water. Then these bills are naturally decorated with numerous red bees. And these bills are called Lal Shapla Bill.
During monsoon, about 25 banks of Kotalipara and Tungipara upazilas of Gopalganj become colorful with thousands of red flowers. However, before 1988, only white-green beavers were seen in these bills, but after the 1988 flood, these bills were filled with red beavers. This is a wonderful scene! It is not possible to express in words if you do not see it. Lal Shapla bill on the one hand attracts tourists by increasing the natural beauty and on the other hand during the rainy season this Lal Shapla becomes a source of income for the unemployed poor people.
