Risang Waterfall

Location of Apurba Sumpar Risang Jharna in Sapmara village of Matiranga upazila of Khagrachari district. Risang Jorna is known locally as ‘Snake Risang Jorna’. The Marma word Richang means water flowing from a high place. Another name for Richang Jharna is Terang Taikalai. The distance of this fountain is only 3 km from the Alutila tourist center. And Risang Jharna can be seen after 1 km along the Khagrachari-Dhaka road.
There is another spring just 200 yards from Rising Spring. Which came to be known as Richang Jharna two or ‘Apu Jharna’. Paved steps have been constructed here for travelers to reach the fountain easily. The beautiful view of the water cascading down from the cliff about 30 meters high is worth enjoying for hours. And if you want, you can easily bathe in the water of Rising Spring.
The distance of Richang Jharna from Khagrachhari district town is about 11 km. From Khagrachari by jeep, private car, or microbus, you can reach the foot of the waterfall and walk a little way on the mountain road.

How to go

You can visit Risang Jharna directly from Khagrachari by renting a champ car or CNG. But in that case, you have to get down about 500 meters from the fountain and walk the rest of the way.
Besides, if you want to see Risang Jharna, first take a local bus or Chander car from Khagrachari Sadar and come in front of Alutila Cave, which is 10 km away on the way to Dhaka. The next destination from Alutila is the area of ​​Hridiya Membar, which is about two kilometers away. Local bus fare from Alutila to the Hridiya member area is 5 taka per person. One has to walk or ride a bike for two kilometers from the Hridiya Member area to Richang Jharna. The bike fare is Tk 50 per person for going only, and the return fare is Tk 100 per person.
Alutila Caves, Buddhist Temples, Deity Ponds, Hanging Bridges, and Rising Springs are within close distance. So it is best if you visit all these places together. It will take 4 to 5 hours to visit these places. Tell where to turn when fixing the car. It will take 2000 to 3000 taka to reserve a champ car for 10-15 people to visit all places and 800 to 1000 taka to reserve CNG. Negotiate the fare though Khagrachari Jeep Paribahan Malik Samiti Katwak fixed fare is Rs.5000.
Dhaka to Khagrachari
Khagrachari can be directly reached by AC/non-AC buses of Shanti, Hanif, S Alam, Shyamoli, Econo, and Eagle Paribahan from Dhaka. The fare per person by bus is Tk 750-850 for non-AC and Tk 1000 to Tk 1600 for AC.
Chittagong to Khagrachari
BRTC and Shanti Paribahan buses leave Khagrachari from Chittagong’s Oxygen Junction. Shanti Paribahan bus leaves every 1-2 hours from 7 am. Besides, several local buses also go to Khagrachari. The fare of these non-AC buses is between Tk 180 to Tk 250. It will take 4-5 hours to travel from Chittagong.
