Panchagarh Rocks Museum, the only rock museum in Bangladesh, is located in the Panchagarh Government Women’s College campus. Principal Nazmul Haque built this stone museum in 1997 as a complete personal initiative. The museum has preserved stones based on different colors, shapes and properties. Apart from thousands of years old stones, various brick and terracotta statues of ancient buildings can be seen here. The ethnographic collection of the museum has artifacts used by various tribes. In the open there are two 300-year-old boats of 22 feet length made of several large stones and a sal tree. There are no other rock museums in Bangladesh, so visit this exceptional rock museum or Rocks Museum in Panchagarh at least once.
How to go
There are various day-night bus services running directly from Dhaka to Panchagarh. Nabil Paribahan, Hanif Enterprise, Tanjila Travel, Barkat Travel can go to Panchagarh from Dhaka’s Shyamoli, Gabtali Bus Terminal and Mirpur. Non AC bus fare from Dhaka to Panchagarh is Tk 1000-1100 and AC bus fare is Tk 1300-1900. If you want to go by train, you can come to Panchagarh from Kamalapur in Dhaka by Panchagarh Express, Ekta and Hirtyan Express trains. According to the class, the train ticket fare ranges from Tk 695 to Tk 2398 per person. Rocks Museum can be reached by local transport from Panchagarh Bus Terminal / Railway Station. The fare will be Tk 20-25 and the entrance ticket to the museum is Tk 10.
