Rupsha Jomidar Bari is located in Rupsha village of Faridganj upazila, an ancient town of Chandpur district. In the middle of the 18th century, Ahmad Raja bought the zamindari from the British and built a zamindar house here. Later Muhammad Ghazi, son of Ahmad Raja, inherited the zamindari. In the 19th century, Mohammad Gazi’s son Ahmed Gazi Chowdhury expanded the Zamindar family in Rupsa village. Zamindar Ahmed Gazi was a patriot and a social worker. Kindness and benevolence took his character to unique heights.
Rupsa Zamindar house is not dilapidated like other traditional Zamindar houses. There are three separate buildings in the Zamindar house. There are also tin houses, ponds, mosques, graveyards and green fields. Zamindar Ahmed Ghazi waqfed several of his lands for public welfare works and established several institutions including the Rupsa Ahmadiyya Bimukhi High School and the Rupsa Ahmadiyya Madrasa and Mosque.

Buses to Chandpur leave at regular intervals from Sayedabad in Dhaka throughout the day. AC/Non-AC bus fare is Tk 250 to Tk 400. MV Sonartari, MV Taqwa, MV Bogdadiya, MV Meghna Rani, MV Al Borak, MV Eagle, MV Rafarf, MV Tutul, etc. are notable among the launches operating on the Dhaka-Chandpur route. Fares from Dhaka to Chandpur in these launches range from Tk 100 to Tk 2000 depending on the category. The launch takes 3 to 3 and a half hours from Dhaka.
The distance of Rupsa Zamindar’s house from Chandpur Sadar is about 21 km. One can easily visit Rupsa Zamindar’s house by riding a CNG/Easybike from Chandpur District Headquarters. If you take CNG reserve from Chandpur to Rupsa Zamindar Bari, it costs around 600 rupees.
