Satair Mosque

Satoir Mosque with nine domes of the Sultanate period is located in Satoir village of Boalmari upazila, 23 kilometers away from Faridpur district headquarters. It is believed that Ala-ud-din Hussain Shah built this mosque in the sixteenth century by showing respect to Hazrat Shah Sufi Shaif Chhaturi (R.A.), the awliya of Satir village during the reign of Sher Shah, about 700 years ago. Within a few years of the construction of the mosque, it was abandoned and the surrounding forest became overgrown. The mosque was later renovated and rebuilt in the early 20th century.
The square Satair Mosque has an outer length of 17.8 meters and an inner length of 13.8 meters and a height of 0.6 meters from the ground. The pendentive style mosque has a total of 9 cylindrical domes. Also, inside the mosque, 4 pillars made of stone, 12 pillars adjacent to the wall and 3 arches with multi-grooved arches can be seen on the west side. However, at the beginning of the construction, there were entrances on three sides of the mosque except the west side, but now the entrances on the north and south sides of the mosque have been converted into windows. Next to the Satair Shahi Masjid there is also the historic Grand Trunk Road, 12 Auliya shrines and a deep well. Ever since the construction of the mosque, there have been various folk tales about the mosque among the locals. And so many people come from far and wide to visit this mosque with religious beliefs and various vows.
