Teota Zamindar Bari is an important place where the memory of rebel poet Kazi Nazrul Islam and his beloved wife Pramila Devi are intertwined. Kazi Nazrul Islam in the Teota zamindar house of Shivaloy Upazila of Manikganj was impressed by the form of Pramila Devi and wrote ‘You are beautiful so I want you dear/Seki mor krimin’. Pramila Devi’s father’s house was next to Teota Zamindar’s house, a witness to the love memory of Kazi Nazrul Islam and Pramila Devi. Due to the poet’s relationship with Pramila Devi’s father Vasant Sen’s nephew Biren Sen, the poet could travel freely to their house. The popular Teota Zamindar house is about 300 years old. According to the information available from the history of Manikganj district, at the beginning of the seventeenth century, a poor youth named Pachusen acquired huge wealth in the tobacco business and bought a zamindari in Jaiganj of Dinajpur and became known as Panchanan Sen. At that time, this zamindar built a house at Teota in Shivalay of Manikganj.
The buildings to the north of the main building of the Teota zamindar house were taken by the Hemshankar estate and the buildings to the south by the Jaishankar estate. Located in front of each estate is the Natmandir, the Laldighi house on the eastern side was used as the inner quarters of the zamindars. The dighi has two shaan-banded ghatlas and a chora kuthuri or dungeon on the south side. In front of the northern building is the 75 feet high 4 storied Navaratna Mutt. Navratna Mutt has 4 other Mutts around the 1st and 2nd floor. Many tourists from home and abroad come to see the house of Teota Zamindar, built on about 7.38 acres of land.
